Dr. Fabien Kawecki is a permanent researcher from France. He earned his PhD degree in bone tissue engineering and microvascularization at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. In 2019, he joined Dr. Nicolas L’Heureux’s research group at BioTis, France as a postdoc to work on developing a new generation of woven tissue-engineered vascular grafts using Cell-Assembled extracellular Matrix (CAM) material. For 2020 onwards, he has been working on his independent research program with the goal of developing completely biological strategies for cardiovascular surgical repairs. His primary focus is on using CAM material in pediatric cardiovascular applications to improve patient treatments. By combining innovative biofabrication techniques, advanced cell culture, and biological textile technologies, Dr. Kawecki aims to design fully biological, implantable devices free of synthetic materials or chemical treatments. These solutions are designed to improve patient outcomes - particularly in pediatric cardiovascular surgery such  as tetralogy of Fallot and Fontan procedures - by offering implants that integrate better with the host tissue and adapt as the body grows.
